When the sky falls in our lives its pretty easy to see we’ve got a God size problem.
But what about the “little problems”?
- A little pride…
- A little fear…
- A little substance abuse…
- A little temper…
- A little porn…
- A little inappropriate glance…
The picture above is a close look at my son’s little toy tyrannosaurus rex standing on the cutting block in our kitchen. It’s a little problem that looks bigger up close. No doubt a full size t-rex walking around our house would be a HUGE problem.
Have you thought, “I’ll take care of my “little problem” before it becomes a big one.” Perhaps you even thought you had put it on the cutting block. “After this, I’m not going to be afraid ANYMORE! I got this God.”
Well strange thing about little problems… they just grow and groW and grOW and gROW and GROW! But you don’t need me to tell you that. We’ve all tested it out for ourselves! Time and time again.
WHY? We hate to suffer, so why don’t we give our “little problems” to the God who really DID put them on the cutting block when He allowed Jesus Christ to writhe on the cross and cast him to Hell in OUR PLACE?
We believe we can take care of the “little problems” apart from God. Isn’t that what Satan would hope for us?
A life, if even just a little, apart from God!
Satan keeps us BUSY THINKING TOO MUCH!
He started with Adam and Eve in the garden telling them to eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. So they could be like God.
WE DON’T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING TO BE LIKE GOD!
Genesis 1:26 says, “Then God said, “Let us make man in Our image, after Our likeness.”
But we exchange truth for a lie, we busy ourselves thinking of ways to stop or control our problems. The world says turn to self help. Look inward for answers. Understand your problems.
DO THIS…DO THAT…
When God looks at our problems no matter their size, he see’s them clearly, and UP CLOSE! He sees them so clearly that he doesn’t call them problems. He calls them sin. And he HATES sin. He doesn’t call us to do something about it ourselves. Or think up a solution.
God calls us to lay at the foot of the Cross in utter dependence on HIM.
We aren’t in bondage to sin; Christ took care of it when he died on the Cross. We don’t need to manage our sin, minimize it or control it. We need to hate it like God does and accept the Grace God is ALREADY shedding on us from His throne.
Jesus didn’t stay in Hell, he ascended to Heaven and sits in splendor on a mighty throne.
Jesus is the Only man who EVER actually, really, truly TRIUMPHED OVER SIN AND DEATH!
THANK YOU JESUS! I’m a sinner but You are the GREAT PHYSICIAN! You love me broken and are the best heart surgeon. You put my sin on the cutting block and cut it out completely. Amen.
“..circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God.” Romans2:29
